CHAPTER SEVEN

– RAM –

“Mind telling me why you went in search of my old lady?” I ask Bruno while we’re standing in a dark alley behind a strip bar owned by Gio.

Bruno keeps his gaze on Stone and Dreamer who are right next to the exit of the strip joint. “To see if she was aware of the fact she’s Gio’s daughter.”

“What the fuck?” I growl.

The corner of that asshole’s mouth twitches. “I had my suspicions and they were strengthened by a thorough background check. Eisley didn’t have a clue, the shocked look on her face gave it away. It’s also clear she’s fairly disgusted by the thought of being related to that fucker so she might not tell you.”

“You’re quite the bright and shiny friend who’s being helpful with fucking with people’s lives,” I grumble and the fucker chuckles.

“You can’t afford surprises when dealing with lunatics, Ram.” He turns and gives me his full attention. “I’m sure Gio let Eisley live for a reason. Maybe he intended for her to become a US Marshal, knew she would when she was going to be placed with her father when her mother died. It’s the reason the fucker has a load of kids with different women, letting them raise ’em and take them back when he has use for them.”

“Building himself a tight circle of loyal blood,” I add, mainly to myself when I start to understand what Bruno is saying.

“I’m sure he tested her a few times over the years to see where her loyalty lies. Come to think of it, you need to ask her if something stands out. If someone did test her it would be someone she worked with who is also connected to Gio. We should definitely explore that theory.” Bruno nods as if he just solved an issue all by himself. “Fuck. Showtime. We’ll discuss this later and I’d keep it between us for now if I were you.”

I can’t discuss the issue any longer due to the back door swinging open. It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for. Normally Bruno doesn’t get his own hands dirty and lets others deal with whatever needs to be handled. He’s the boss for a reason.

Though, this is somewhat personal. Hell, maybe the fucker is doing it to get his hands on the little book Eisley still has safely tucked away somewhere. Right now, I don’t fucking care; as long as we clean house and the threat against my woman is fully gone.

First priority at hand is to make sure we get the prospect and our brother safely out of Gio’s claws. Bruno found out Gio uses the basement of this strip joint to keep people prisoner, or torture the hell out of those he thinks need it.

The guy stepping out of the strip joint is grabbed by his throat and Dreamer slams him into the wall right next to the door. Stone holds the door open so we can slip inside as soon as we’ve dealt with the guy who drops the garbage bag.
